Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Begin your day with an early breakfast at your lodge before heading to the park headquarters with a packed lunch. After a mandatory briefing on the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking, you’ll embark on your hike in search of these “Gentle Giants.” The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 7 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you find them, all the effort will be rewarded as you spend 60 unforgettable minutes with the gorillas, observing and photographing them (without flash) as they play, feed, and interact. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch. If you’re not too tired, you can opt for a brief nature walk or visit local communities, including curio shops, drinking spots, local schools, and orphanages. Another option is to explore the Munyanja River trail, where you’ll see waterfalls and a variety of birdlife, or the Muzabajiro/Ruhija trails, which offer sightings of forest and grassland birds as well as other primates. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
