This 4 day Gorillas and Mount Sabinyo Hiking adventure is perfect for those eager to experience both gorilla trekking and mountain hiking in Uganda. During this safari, you will have the opportunity to track gorillas in either Mgahinga National Park or Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, followed by a hike up Mount Sabinyo in Mgahinga National Park. Mount Sabinyo, although the smallest of the Gahinga Ranges in southern Uganda, offers a thrilling hiking experience.

Tour Plan
Pick Up from the Airport/Hotel and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your driver-guide will meet you at the hotel or Entebbe Airport, and you'll embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi. Along the way, there will be a stop at the Equator and another for an en-route lunch. You'll arrive at Bwindi late in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Your guide will explain the dos and don’ts of the trek. The duration of the trek varies depending on the gorillas' location that day. You'll spend one hour observing and photographing the gorillas before returning to the headquarters to receive your certificate.

Early Morning Hike of Mount Sabinyo
Today, you will begin the ascent to the top of Mount Sabinyo, a Virunga Volcano whose summit can only be accessed from Uganda. The summit, at 3,645 meters (11,959 feet), marks the intersection of the borders of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The slopes of Mount Sabinyo are home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas.
You'll navigate the rugged terrain along the Sabinyo slopes, characterized by craters and sharp ridges. The hike to the summit takes about 4 hours, with another 4 hours for the descent, depending on pace and weather conditions. Walking sticks are provided free of charge, and porters are available for hire. You'll pass through a bamboo zone between 2,400 – 2,800 meters. After reaching the summit, you'll rest and have your packed lunch before descending. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe to End the Trip
After breakfast and some relaxation at the lodge, you'll bid farewell and drive back to Kampala/Entebbe for drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your 4-day Uganda Gorilla and Mount Sabinyo Hiking safari.

Can I reschedule or cancel this trip?
- Rescheduling: You can reschedule this trip as a private tour to any date within 12 months at no additional cost.
- Booking Deposit: A 30% deposit of the total tour price is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due 45 days before the tour departure date. Bookings not secured with the appropriate deposit will be released.
- Cancellation Policy:
- Cancel between 90 and 45 days before departure: 20% penalty of the tour price.
- Cancel within 45 days of departure or no show: 100% penalty of the tour price.
Availability and Accommodations
- Reservations: Accommodation and activity availability is not guaranteed until reservations are confirmed with the final itinerary and deposit payment. If any quoted accommodations are unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute them with suitable alternatives, which may affect the final quoted price.
Insurance
- Requirement: All clients must have medical and travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.
Rates
- Subject to Change: Tour rates are subject to change without notice. We will make every effort to maintain rates, but changes in government taxes or operating conditions may be passed on to clients.
Permit Cancellation Policy
Uganda Gorilla Permit Cancellation Policy
- Guarantee: A Gorilla Permit is guaranteed only upon receipt of the deposit ($800 per person per trek) as it must be paid immediately to the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Cancellation Fees
- More than 90 days before tracking: 25% cancellation fee.
- 89 to 46 days before tracking: 50% cancellation fee.
- 45 to 9 days before tracking: 75% cancellation fee.
- 8 to 0 days before tracking: 100% cancellation fee.
Important Information
- Age Requirement: The minimum age for gorilla tracking is 15 years.
- Health: Visitors with flu or other airborne diseases will not be allowed into the rainforest jungle to see the gorillas.
- Safety Protocols: Masks must be worn at all times, and a distance of 10 meters must be maintained between you and the gorillas.
