Tour Plan
Begin Your 2-Day Lake Mburo Game and Boat Safari
Your guide will pick you up, provide a briefing on the safari, and then drive you to Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through small towns on the Kampala-Mbarara road, stopping at the Equator for photos and to witness experiments that demonstrate this unique geographical location. You’ll also visit the Mpambire royal drum makers to see how local drums are crafted from wood and animal hides.
Upon arrival at Lake Mburo, you’ll have lunch, followed by a short rest before heading out for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This two-hour excursion offers a chance to see hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds like the African fish eagle and the rare African finfoot. The lake’s shores are also a gathering spot for buffaloes, antelopes, and other wildlife. After the boat cruise, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Morning Game Drive or Safari Walk
After breakfast, your guide will take you on a game drive or a safari walk, depending on your preference. Despite Lake Mburo National Park’s troubled history of human-wildlife conflict, the park has made significant strides in wildlife conservation, leading to the reintroduction of species like lions (though they are rarely seen) and giraffes. On the game drive, you’ll encounter herds of buffaloes, zebras, impalas, and a variety of bird species, all without the need for extensive driving. If you opt for the safari walk, you’ll experience the same wildlife encounters on foot. After your morning activity, you can either have lunch at the lodge or start your journey back to Kampala, stopping for lunch along the way.
