Our tours are designed to cater to students’ interests, including gorilla trekking, wildlife safaris, and cultural experiences, all while keeping your budget in mind.
The best time to book student study group tours is now! Spring break typically coincides with the wet season in Uganda and Rwanda, but that doesn’t stop the adventure. It’s important to plan your trip well in advance, especially for activities like gorilla trekking, which requires booking permits ahead of time.
To secure your gorilla permits, we recommend booking at least a year in advance. Send us your preferred travel dates in March to May, and we will check the availability of permits for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park. If permits are available for your chosen dates, we’ll let you know right away and provide details on how to proceed with the payment.
A gorilla permit is essential for trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga National Park. Once your group decides on dates, we’ll check the availability of permits and assist with securing them.
After confirming availability, we’ll request payment for the gorilla permits, which can be made via bank transfer, wire transfer, or credit/debit card (please note a small surcharge for card payments). We work directly with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to book your permits, and we have exclusive access to their permit database, allowing us to view, hold, and reserve permits in real-time.
Once payment is made, we’ll obtain your gorilla permit from UWA and send you a receipt and booking ID. We’ll keep your permits safe until the day of your safari, where your guide will collect them on your behalf.
At Trek Africa Expeditions, we believe in offering a stress-free and comprehensive experience for students traveling to Uganda and Rwanda. Our gorilla trekking tours are all-inclusive, meaning that everything you need for your Spring break safari—gorilla permits, accommodation, and transport—is taken care of. Let us guide you through the details of what’s included in your tour to ensure you have a seamless adventure in Africa.
A gorilla permit is an essential component of your gorilla trekking experience. This permit, issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), grants you access to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park to spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas. It allows you one hour with a habituated gorilla family in the wild, where you can take photos and videos.
Included in the gorilla permit are:
Please note, the permit does not cover accommodation or transport to and from the park, which Trek Africa Expeditions will handle for you.
For those wishing to spend more time with the gorillas, we recommend the Gorilla Habituation Experience. This option allows you to spend up to four hours with gorillas who are still in the habituation process. It’s an incredible opportunity for more intimate interactions and a deeper understanding of these magnificent creatures.
The Gorilla Habituation Permit includes:
While the habituation experience offers more time with the gorillas, it does not include accommodation or transportation to Bwindi, which Trek Africa Expeditions will arrange for you.
Depending on your budget and preferences, Trek Africa Expeditions offers a range of lodging options in and around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We partner with budget, deluxe, and luxury lodges, providing choices to suit all travel styles. Whether you’re staying in the Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija, or Nkuringo region, we’ll recommend the best accommodation to meet your group’s needs.
We continuously assess these lodges by visiting them in person and reviewing guest feedback, ensuring that you receive high-quality service throughout your stay. Let us know your budget, and we’ll help you select the perfect option.
At Trek Africa Expeditions, we provide comfortable transport for your group to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We operate a fleet of 4×4 safari vehicles, including luxury Land Cruisers for high-end travelers and customized safari vans for more affordable options. All vehicles are equipped with drinking water and driven by professional, local guides who are well-trained in handling the African terrain.
We ensure that your journey to and from Bwindi is as smooth and comfortable as possible.
For Student study group tours, you have the option to fly into Kigali, Rwanda, or Entebbe, Uganda. Many travelers prefer flying into Kigali, as it offers a shorter transfer to Bwindi for gorilla trekking. Alternatively, flying into Entebbe allows you to enjoy a scenic drive to Bwindi, passing through the famous Equator Crossing, rolling hills, and the long-horned cattle of Kigezi.
Regardless of your arrival airport, Trek Africa Expeditions will assist with airport transfers and ensure that your group gets to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park without hassle.
As a leading tour operator for gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda and Rwanda, Trek Africa Expeditions offers personalized, affordable, and eco-friendly experiences for student groups.
