Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You’ll then embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, stopping for a photo opportunity at the Equator and a delicious lunch in Mbarara. The journey continues through Uganda’s beautiful southwestern landscape, arriving in the late afternoon at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge for your overnight stay.

Located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi is one of East Africa’s most biodiverse forests. It’s home to more than 120 species of mammals, 345 species of birds, and numerous endangered species, including the mountain gorilla. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a vital conservation area and offers a truly unique ecosystem. Bwindi is not only a haven for gorillas but also plays an important role in supporting surrounding communities and local agriculture.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing from your experienced guide and trackers. Then, set off on your gorilla trekking adventure. The trek will take you through dense rainforests and up mountain slopes, offering breathtaking views and the chance to encounter the majestic mountain gorillas in their natural environment. This is a physically demanding trek, sometimes lasting up to six hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. However, the reward is an unforgettable experience as you get up close to one of the world’s most endangered species.

Gorilla sightings are never guaranteed, but the success rate is over 90%. You’ll be allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas, observing their behaviors and interactions, which will be a highlight of your safari.

Day 3: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe for your return drop-off at your hotel, marking the end of your 3-Day Off-Season Gorilla Safari.
