Experience the Best of Primate Encounters in Luxury
If you’re looking for an exclusive and immersive primate experience in Uganda, our luxury primate habituation safaris are the perfect choice. Spend extended time with endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, or golden monkeys in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Unlike regular trekking, the habituation experience allows you to spend more time—up to four hours—with these incredible primates as they adapt to human presence. This unique opportunity is only available in Uganda, making it a must-do for wildlife enthusiasts seeking an in-depth and intimate encounter.
How to Book a Luxury Primate Habituation Experience
To secure your spot, you’ll need to obtain a habituation permit in advance. Since only four people are allowed per group, permits are limited and sell out quickly. We recommend booking at least 2–3 months in advance.
Once you have your travel dates, reach out to us, and we’ll check permit availability with the Uganda Wildlife Authority. If permits are available, we’ll provide an invoice for payment. Upon confirmation, we will secure your permit and send you a scanned copy for your records.
Excursia Adventures offers a range of customized primate habituation safari packages, from budget-friendly options to high-end luxury experiences. Contact us today to plan your dream safari!
What is the Gorilla Habituation Experience?
Gorilla habituation is a special activity that involves trekking deep into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to find semi-habituated mountain gorillas. These gorillas are still getting used to human presence, and during the experience, you’ll take part in activities aimed at making them more comfortable around people. Unlike standard gorilla trekking, which allows only one hour with the gorillas, the habituation experience gives you up to four hours with them, providing a deeper understanding of their behavior and conservation efforts.
Only four visitors are allowed per group, making this an intimate and exclusive experience.

- Chimpanzee Habituation Permit: $300 per person

Best Time for Gorilla Habituation Experience
The ideal time for gorilla habituation in Uganda is during the dry seasons:
- June to October
- December to March
During these months, there’s less rainfall, making trekking easier and visibility better for photography. However, habituation can be done year-round, and the rainy season (April, May, and November) has the advantage of shorter treks as food is more abundant for gorillas.
