The group was once led by Rafiki, meaning “friend” in Swahili, until his passing in 2008. Notably, the Nkuringo family was the first to produce a set of twins in 2004, though unfortunately, one of the twins did not survive.
Bushaho Gorilla Family
The Bushaho Gorilla Family consists of nine members, though the size may fluctuate as new members are born or added. This family was officially opened for trekking in 2016, contributing to the increasing number of gorilla families in Bwindi.
