Discover Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Located in southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the world’s most important wildlife destinations. It shares a border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and is home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the oldest rainforests in Africa and is divided into four sectors: Rushaga, Buhoma, Ruhija, and Nkuringo. Each sector offers a unique and memorable gorilla trekking experience.
Bwindi has 18 habituated gorilla families, providing a 98% chance of spotting these incredible creatures. With only eight visitors allowed per family each day, your experience will be intimate and special.
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi begins with a briefing at the park’s headquarters, where you’ll learn about the rules and safety guidelines for trekking. Then, accompanied by expert guides and trackers, you’ll venture into the forest to find a family of mountain gorillas. Once located, you’ll have the privilege of spending one hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat before returning to your starting point.
Gorilla trekking is suitable for individuals 15 years and older. For conservation purposes, only 8 visitors are allowed to see each gorilla family per day, ensuring minimal disruption to the animals.
