After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport, and you'll embark on a scenic drive towards the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Although the drive is long, the journey offers spectacular views, culminating in the endless plains of the Serengeti. Home to the Great Migration, the Serengeti hosts millions of wildebeests, thousands of zebras, and a variety of antelopes. The park is also renowned for its Big Cats and large predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, making it a prime location for wildlife viewing.

Day 2

Full Day in Serengeti National Park

On this day you will be exploring Serengeti National Park. You can opt for a morning game drive, followed by lunch and relaxation at the lodge, and then an afternoon game drive. Alternatively, you can spend the entire day on a game drive with a picnic lunch, maximizing your chances of spotting the incredible wildlife that inhabits this vast park.

Day 3

Early Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Start your day with an early morning game drive, when the animals are most active, and witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Serengeti. Afterward, return to the lodge for a hearty brunch before proceeding to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often referred to as the "8th Wonder of the Natural World." Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity for an evening game drive in Ngorongoro.

Full Day in Ngorongoro

Begin your day early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for an unforgettable morning of wildlife viewing. With its diverse ecosystems—including rivers, swamps, a soda lake with flamingos, forests, and open plains—Ngorongoro offers an unparalleled concentration of African wildlife.

Day 5

Game Drive and Transfer Back to Arusha to End the Safari

After an early breakfast, embark on a final morning game drive in Ngorongoro, known for having the densest population of lions, as well as leopards, elephants, buffalos, and many other species. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the serene hippo lake before a short game drive. You'll then ascend the crater and begin your journey back to Arusha, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, concluding your remarkable Tanzanian safari.

Most of our gorilla trekking safaris include the cost of the gorilla permit. The permit is one of the most important parts of your trip and will be clearly listed in your quotation. If a permit is not included, we will explain this before you make your booking.

How far in advance should I book gorilla trekking permits?

We recommend booking gorilla permits at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel during the peak seasons from June to September or December to February. Permits are limited and can sell out quickly, particularly in popular trekking sectors.

What is the best time for gorilla trekking in Uganda?

Gorilla trekking is available throughout the year in Uganda. Many travelers prefer the dry seasons from June to September and December to February because the trails are generally easier to navigate. However, the rainy seasons can also be rewarding, with fewer visitors and lush green scenery in the forest.

How difficult is gorilla trekking?

The difficulty of gorilla trekking varies depending on the location of the gorilla family being visited. Some treks may take less than an hour while others can last several hours through steep and forested terrain. A moderate level of fitness is recommended, but people of different ages and fitness levels successfully complete gorilla treks every day.

What should I pack for gorilla trekking?

For gorilla trekking, we recommend bringing sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, a lightweight rain jacket, gardening gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, drinking water and a camera.
