Day 1

Fly to Murchison Falls National Park

Your adventure begins with a transfer to Entebbe Airport for your internal flight to Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll land at Pakuba Airstrip. Upon arrival, our guide will transport you by road to your lodge. After lunch and a short rest, embark on an evening game drive to search for the park’s iconic wildlife. Depending on your luck, you might encounter herds of buffalo, elephants, antelopes, and even big cats like lions and leopards. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on the Nile

Start your day with an early morning cup of tea or breakfast before heading out on another game drive. This is your chance to spot any animals you may have missed the previous day. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch, and then head to the pier for a two-hour boat cruise on the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. The Nile, the world’s longest river, stretches 6,853 km (4,258 miles) and passes through eleven countries. During the cruise, you'll see various water birds, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and other wildlife that come to the river to drink. Return to your lodge for the night.

Day 3

Fly Back to Entebbe

After breakfast, if you’re booked on the morning flight, you’ll transfer to Pakuba Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. If you’re scheduled for an afternoon flight, you may opt for a final game drive before your departure.

Most of our gorilla trekking safaris include the cost of the gorilla permit. The permit is one of the most important parts of your trip and will be clearly listed in your quotation. If a permit is not included, we will explain this before you make your booking.

How far in advance should I book gorilla trekking permits?

We recommend booking gorilla permits at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel during the peak seasons from June to September or December to February. Permits are limited and can sell out quickly, particularly in popular trekking sectors.

What is the best time for gorilla trekking in Uganda?

Gorilla trekking is available throughout the year in Uganda. Many travelers prefer the dry seasons from June to September and December to February because the trails are generally easier to navigate. However, the rainy seasons can also be rewarding, with fewer visitors and lush green scenery in the forest.

How difficult is gorilla trekking?

The difficulty of gorilla trekking varies depending on the location of the gorilla family being visited. Some treks may take less than an hour while others can last several hours through steep and forested terrain. A moderate level of fitness is recommended, but people of different ages and fitness levels successfully complete gorilla treks every day.

What should I pack for gorilla trekking?

For gorilla trekking, we recommend bringing sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt, a lightweight rain jacket, gardening gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, drinking water and a camera.
