Kenya is one of the top destinations in Africa to see ostriches in the wild. The Masai ostrich, a distinctive species found in Kenya, is one of the most sought-after sightings for safari-goers. If you’re planning a trip to Kenya and are eager to spot these fascinating birds, here are the best places to see ostriches:

Top Locations to Spot Ostriches in Kenya

Nairobi National Park

Located just a short drive from Nairobi, Nairobi National Park offers a unique opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife, including ostriches. The park is home to a healthy population of Masai ostriches, which can often be spotted roaming the open grasslands, making for some incredible photo opportunities.

Masai Ostrich Farm

For a more immersive experience, consider visiting the Masai Ostrich Farm, located just outside of Nairobi. This farm is dedicated to breeding and preserving ostriches and it provides a chance to learn about these fascinating creatures up close. You’ll have the opportunity to see ostriches in their natural environment while also gaining insight into the local conservation efforts.

Other Ostrich Farms in Kenya

Apart from Nairobi National Park and Masai Ostrich Farm, there are other ostrich farms around Kenya where you can enjoy close encounters with these impressive birds. If you’re looking for a more curated experience, these farms are great spots to visit.

Best Time to See Ostriches in Kenya

Ostriches can be spotted in Kenya throughout the year but the best time for sightings is during the drier months, from December to February and June to October. These months provide better visibility as the vegetation is thinner, making it easier to spot the birds. The wetter months from March to May and November can make sightings more challenging due to lush vegetation and occasional rainfall.
