Best Seasons for Chimpanzee Trekking in Kalinzu Forest

The ideal time to go chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu Forest is during Uganda’s dry seasons, which occur from June to October and December to March. During these months, the weather is mostly dry with minimal rainfall, making it easier to trek through the forest. The reduced vegetation also improves visibility, providing excellent opportunities for spotting chimpanzees and capturing stunning photographs.

In contrast, the wet months—April, May and November—bring heavy rainfall that causes vegetation to grow thick, making chimpanzee sightings more challenging. However, during these months, the treks tend to be shorter since the chimpanzees don’t roam far in search of food, as it is more abundant in the forest.
