Combine Gorilla Habituation Safari with Golfing in Uganda

Combine Gorilla Habituation Safari with Golfing in Uganda: An Unforgettable Adventure

If you’re looking to combine the thrill of gorilla trekking with the relaxation of a round of golf, Trek Africa Gorillas offers the perfect blend of adventure and leisure. Our Gorilla Habituation Safari combined with Golfing in Uganda allows you to get up close to the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat while enjoying the world-class golf courses in Uganda, such as Kitante Golf Club and Entebbe Golf Club.

What is Gorilla Habituation? A Unique Wildlife Encounter

Gorilla Habituation is a unique experience that allows you to spend up to four hours with mountain gorillas in the wild. Unlike regular gorilla trekking, which typically offers just one hour with the gorillas, Gorilla Habituation involves accompanying researchers and park rangers as they work with semi-habituated gorillas. This intimate experience allows you to observe these magnificent creatures closely, as they get accustomed to human presence.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda is the only location where this extraordinary activity takes place. Along with Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in DR Congo, these are the only places where mountain gorillas are found, making the Gorilla Habituation experience even more exclusive.

Best Time to Combine Gorilla Habituation with Golfing in Uganda

Gorilla Habituation can be done year-round but the best time to visit is during the drier months—January, February, June, July and early September. These months offer better weather conditions for travel and clearer views of the gorillas. However, the rainy season (March, April, May and November) also has its perks: the gorillas tend to stay closer to the lodge due to abundant food and trekking is easier with shorter walks.

Accommodation Options for Your Gorilla Habituation Safari

The Gorilla Habituation experience takes place in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, specifically in the Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors. Popular accommodation options include:

• Rushaga Sector: Rushaga Gorilla Camp, Four Gorillas Lodge, Gorilla Safari Lodge, Nsongi Camp, Icumbi Gorilla Safari Lodge, Gorilla Valley Lodge and Karungi Camp.
• Nkuringo Sector: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge and Lake Mutanda Resort.

These accommodations are conveniently located near the starting points of the Gorilla Habituation experience.

How to Get to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Getting to Bwindi is part of the adventure. You can fly into Entebbe International Airport and then drive to Bwindi, which takes about 9-10 hours by road. Alternatively, you can fly directly to Kisoro Airstrip for easier access to the southern part of the park. If you’re coming from Rwanda, you can fly into Kigali International Airport and take a 4-5 hour drive via the Cyanika or Katuna border.

We recommend purchasing the East African Visa, which provides access to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda for $100 USD. You can also obtain single-entry visas for each country if preferred.
