Combine Hiking Mount Meru with Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Combine Hiking Mount Meru with Gorilla Trekking in Uganda for an Unforgettable Adventure

Looking for an extraordinary adventure that blends the thrill of hiking with the excitement of wildlife encounters? Combine hiking Mount Meru, one of Africa’s hidden gems, with gorilla trekking in Uganda for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Why Hike Mount Meru: Tanzania’s Underrated Mountain Adventure

Mount Meru, a dormant stratovolcano located just west of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, rises to 4,562 meters (14,968 feet), making it Africa’s fifth highest peak. Unlike the more crowded Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru offers a peaceful and less-visited hiking experience—perfect for those seeking solitude in nature.

The hike typically takes 3–4 days and the best times to visit are during the dry season, from June to September or December to February. During this period, the trails are drier, making the hike more manageable and the roads leading to the mountain easily accessible.

Best Time to Hike Mount Meru

Hiking Mount Meru is best done during the dry months, as the paths are less slippery and the overall conditions are more favorable. East Africa’s equatorial climate means the weather is generally warm but it can still get chilly at higher altitudes. Be prepared for occasional rain showers even during the dry season, especially near the summit. To make your trek successful, pack appropriate hiking gear.
