Gorilla Permit Availability for August in Uganda

Gorilla Permit Availability for August in Uganda: Your Guide to Secure a Spot

Planning to visit Uganda for gorilla trekking in August? If you’re looking to trek the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, knowing the availability of gorilla permits in advance is crucial before you book your trip. These permits are essential for trekking and without them, you won’t be able to visit these incredible creatures.

At Trek Africa Gorillas, we are authorized to check and secure gorilla permits for individuals and groups, making it easier for you to plan your trip. With 18 gorilla families in Bwindi open for trekking, a total of 144 permits are available daily for visitors. So, let’s dive into the process and how we can assist you in securing your permits for a smooth and hassle-free experience.

How to Secure Your Gorilla Permit for August

Once you reach out to Trek Africa Gorillas, we will connect with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), the organization responsible for issuing gorilla permits. Through our direct access to UWA’s system, we can check the availability of permits for the specific dates you’re interested in.

UWA’s reservation system allows us to check permit availability directly but you can also contact them via phone or email. However, keep in mind that UWA tends not to respond to calls in the afternoon, so it’s best to reach out early.

To save you time and avoid any last-minute confusion, simply provide us with the year, month and specific dates for your trek. We’ll then confirm which gorilla families are available, as some are located in the northern sector of Bwindi, while others are found in the south.

What Happens After We Check Availability?

Once we’ve confirmed the availability of gorilla permits for your preferred dates, we’ll send you an invoice. After payment is processed, you will need to provide us with your passport details, which are necessary for UWA to issue your permit. We will then send you a copy of your permit for your records.

If you’ve booked a full tour package with us, the permit will be included and we’ll have it ready for you upon your arrival in Uganda. Alternatively, you can pick up your permit directly from our office, where we are available to assist you.

The Uganda Gorilla Permit Booking System Explained

Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced an online booking system in 2016, streamlining the process of checking and reserving permits. Trek Africa Gorillas is one of the select tour operators with direct access to this system. This allows us to provide you with real-time availability and reserve permits for you immediately.

However, if the online system experiences technical issues, we are in constant contact with UWA and can still check availability and secure your permits.

Can You Book Directly with Uganda Wildlife Authority?

Yes, it is possible to book your gorilla permit directly with UWA. However, many visitors have found this process to be frustrating due to delayed responses and cumbersome procedures. To avoid this hassle, we recommend booking through a recognized tour operator like Trek Africa Gorillas, which guarantees a smoother and faster experience.

Why Book Your Gorilla Permit Through Trek Africa Gorillas?

• Exclusive Access: As a trusted tour operator, we have 24/7 access to UWA’s permit database. We can check availability and secure permits quickly, giving you peace of mind when booking.
• Reservation Flexibility: Once we find the permits, we can hold them for up to seven days while you finalize your payment. This reservation option is not available for everyone.
• Quick Payment Processing: We can use our credit to secure permits before payment is received and we accept multiple payment methods, including electronic transfers and credit/debit cards (with a 5% surcharge).
