Best Time to Book Your Autumn Holiday Gorilla Trekking Tour

If you’re planning a gorilla trekking adventure this Autumn, the best time to book is now! To ensure you get the best experience, we recommend booking your Autumn holiday trek at least a year in advance. This way, you’ll secure important elements like gorilla permits and avoid missing out.

If you’re reading this now and have specific dates in mind for visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park, just let us know! We’ll check the availability of gorilla permits and other services for your desired travel dates.

Once we know how many permits are available for your chosen dates, we’ll inform you promptly by email. If everything works out, you can then proceed with payment and we’ll reserve your gorilla permits right away.

How to Secure Your Gorilla Permits with Trek Africa Gorillas

To secure your Autumn holiday gorilla trek, we’ll need you to pay for your gorilla permits in full. This guarantees your spot on the trek and ensures the permits are reserved under your name. After that, the remaining balance for your trip can be settled 3 weeks before your safari starts.

Trek Africa Gorillas is one of the few registered tour operators in Uganda with access to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) gorilla permit database. This means we can check the availability of permits for both Bwindi and Mgahinga at any time—day or night.

Once your payment is processed, we’ll send one of our team members to the UWA headquarters in Kampala to finalize your booking. They’ll obtain the official booking ID and receipt, which we’ll send you for your records. Once your gorilla permits are printed, we’ll safely collect them and keep them at our office until your trip. On the day of your trek, your guide will hand over the permit for you to present at the park entrance.

What’s Included in Your Autumn Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safari

At Trek Africa Gorillas, our Autumn holiday gorilla trekking tours are all-inclusive, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Here’s what’s included:

• Gorilla permits for trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park
• Accommodation in comfortable lodges or camps
• Transport to and from Entebbe or Kigali to the trekking destinations
• Services of a professional ranger guide and tourism police for your safety and security during the trek

We want your trip to be as stress-free as possible, so we handle all the logistics for you. This ensures you can relax and focus on your Autumn adventure without any worries.

Gorilla Permits: What’s Included and Excluded

A gorilla permit is a pass issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) that allows you to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park to track and view the endangered mountain gorillas. The permit includes the following:

• One hour with a habituated gorilla family
• Ranger guide services for an informative and safe trek
• Tourism police for added security
• Park entry fees for Bwindi or Mgahinga, valid for 24 hours

Your permit also allows you to take photographs and videos during your encounter with the gorillas. However, please note the do’s and don’ts during the trek, which we’ll provide in advance.

One important thing to remember is that gorilla permits are only valid on the specific date they are booked for. Once they expire, they cannot be used, so be sure to plan your trek for the correct date.

Gorilla Habituation Permit: What’s Included and Excluded

For those wanting to spend more time with mountain gorillas during their visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the Gorilla Habituation Experience is the perfect option. Instead of the traditional gorilla trekking permit (which allows you to spend one hour with the gorillas), the habituation permit allows you to stay with a gorilla family for up to four hours. This immersive experience provides a deeper connection with these incredible creatures.

Currently, the Uganda Wildlife Authority offers the Gorilla Habituation Experience with two gorilla families in the southern parts of Bwindi. There are also reports of a third family being habituated in the northern part of Bwindi, catering to visitors in the Buhoma and Ruhija regions of the park.

When you book the Gorilla Habituation Experience, you’ll receive a certificate as a memento of your visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and your contribution to supporting the conservation of mountain gorillas. Part of your permit fee goes directly to gorilla conservation efforts and helps fund local community projects like schools, hospitals and job creation.

What’s Included with the Gorilla Permit

Your gorilla permit covers the following:

• Four hours with a habituated mountain gorilla family
• Ranger guide services to ensure you have a safe and informative experience
• Tourism police to ensure your safety in the forest
• Park entry fees for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park (valid for 24 hours)

However, the permit does not include accommodation or transportation to and from the park. At Trek Africa Gorillas, we’ll handle all your accommodation and transport needs, ensuring your Autumn holiday gorilla trekking tour goes off without a hitch.

Accommodation Options for Your Autumn Holiday Gorilla Trek

We work with a selection of lodges in and around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to cater to all budgets, whether you’re looking for budget, deluxe or luxury options. Bwindi is divided into four regions: Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija and Nkuringo and each region offers several choices for accommodation.

Our team personally visits and evaluates the lodges every year to ensure they meet high standards of service and comfort. We also keep an eye on reviews from trusted sources like TripAdvisor. Let us know your budget and we’ll recommend the perfect lodge for your needs. Our friendly team is just a phone call or email away!

Transport to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

At Trek Africa Gorillas, we provide comfortable transportation for your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Depending on your preference, you can choose from:

• Luxury Land Cruisers for a high-end, comfortable ride
• Customized safari vans for a more budget-friendly option but still comfortable for the African terrain

All our vehicles are 4×4 and fully equipped to handle the rugged roads of Africa. Each vehicle comes with drinking water and is driven by a professional local driver-guide to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.

Flying to Kigali, Rwanda or Entebbe, Uganda

For your Autumn gorilla trekking tour, you have the option to fly into either Kigali (Rwanda) or Entebbe (Uganda). Many of our guests prefer flying into Kigali as it offers a shorter, more scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. If you choose to fly into Entebbe, you’ll enjoy a beautiful drive through Uganda’s countryside, with stops at the equator crossing and views of the iconic Ankole long-horned cows and the rolling hills of Kigezi.

We’ll take care of all your airport transfers and transport to and from Bwindi for a hassle-free experience.
