Why Choose Rushaga Sector for Gorilla Trekking?

The Rushaga sector, located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, is a gorilla trekking hotspot. With five habituated gorilla families—Busingye, Bweza, Nshongi, Mishaya and Kahungye—it boasts the highest number of gorilla groups in Bwindi, making it an excellent choice for trekking. The terrain in Rushaga is also relatively easier to navigate compared to other regions.

Rushaga is unique as it offers the Gorilla Habituation Experience, an opportunity to spend extended time with semi-habituated gorilla families, including Bushaho and Bikyingi. This rare and immersive experience is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts.

For those interested in cultural encounters, the Batwa community visit is also available in Rushaga, offering a glimpse into the traditions and history of Uganda’s indigenous people.
