Best Places for Gorilla Trekking in Africa

Gorilla trekking is only possible in three countries: Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). These countries are home to the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas, spread across four iconic national parks:

• Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)
• Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (Uganda)
• Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda)
• Virunga National Park (Congo)

Additionally, Congo offers the chance to see lowland gorillas in Kahuzi-Biéga National Park. Gorilla trekking permits are required to visit these parks and they often sell out quickly, especially during the peak season from June to September. To secure your spot, we recommend booking your trip at least 5 months in advance.
