Nestled within the Virunga volcanic mountain range, Mgahinga is Uganda’s smallest national park, bordering Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The park is part of the greater Virunga conservation area and is known for its stunning volcanic peaks—Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabyinyo and Mount Muhabura—as well as its thriving populations of endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.
