By participating in this activity, you’re supporting both environmental conservation and the local communities. 20% of the money from permits and entrance fees is allocated to local community development. Best Time for Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga National Park

The best times to do golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga National Park are during the dry months from June to October and December to March. This is Uganda’s dry season, with mild rainfall, which makes trekking easier and offers better visibility for viewing the monkeys and taking photographs. The vegetation is also not as dense, making it easier to spot the golden monkeys.

During the wet months of April, May and November, vegetation can grow tall and the forest can be muddy and slippery. However, treks are typically shorter during this time since the golden monkeys stay closer to their food sources. Despite the weather, you still have a 99% chance of seeing the golden monkeys at any time of year, thanks to well-organized treks.
