How Long is Gorilla Trekking in Uganda?

How Long is Gorilla Trekking in Uganda? Your Complete Guide to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

The duration of gorilla trekking in Uganda varies greatly and depends on the movement of the gorillas in the forest on the day of your trek. Gorillas are constantly on the move in their natural habitat, so the trek to find them can range from a few hours to a full day.

Typically, gorilla trekking involves hiking for 2 to 8 hours through the dense rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On some days, trekkers may spend just a couple of hours locating the gorillas, while on others, it can take up to 8 hours or more, especially if the gorillas are further away. Once you find the gorillas, you’ll get to spend one magical hour in their presence.

The trekking experience can be challenging, with steep terrain, unmarked paths and unpredictable weather conditions. For this reason, it’s essential to be physically fit and prepared for long hikes, sometimes covering distances of up to 9 miles (14 kilometers) in a day.
