About the Rushaga Sector: Where to Find Uganda’s Most Gorilla Families

Located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rushaga is home to five habituated gorilla families, the highest number of any sector in Bwindi. These families include Busingye, Bweza, Nshongi, Mishaya and Kahungye, all accessible to tourists.

Rushaga also stands out as the only sector in Bwindi offering the Gorilla Habituation Experience, where you can spend up to four hours with gorilla families that are still undergoing the habituation process, including Bushaho and Bikyingi families.

This sector is easily accessible, especially if you’re traveling from Kigali, Rwanda. Additionally, visitors can enjoy cultural experiences such as the Batwa community tours, which provide a glimpse into the traditions of the indigenous forest people.
