How to Go Gorilla Trekking in Congo This Summer

How to Go Gorilla Trekking in Congo This Summer

Planning a summer adventure to see the majestic mountain gorillas in Congo? Trek Africa Gorillas is here to help you organize a Gorilla Trekking Trip in Congo that fits perfectly into your summer holiday plans. Our summer holiday gorilla trekking safaris can be combined with visits to other incredible destinations, such as savannah national parks, wildlife viewing, boat cruises and cultural encounters.

From June to September, when the northern hemisphere is experiencing summer, most schools and universities are on break, making it the perfect time for a memorable African adventure. While many people flock to beaches, why not take a different route this year and embark on a gorilla trekking experience with Trek Africa Gorillas? We offer affordable, high-quality trips to Virunga National Park and Kahuzi Beiga National Park in Congo to see both mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas.

Best Time to Book Your Gorilla Trekking Trip in Congo

Since summer holidays in the northern hemisphere coincide with the rainy season in Uganda and Rwanda, Congo offers a great alternative. The dry season in Congo from June to September is ideal for trekking the gorillas.

It’s best to book your gorilla trekking tour early to avoid disappointment, as permits can sell out fast. We recommend booking at least a year in advance to ensure availability. Simply send us your preferred dates between June and September and we will check the availability of gorilla permits for you.

Once we confirm the availability of permits for your chosen date, we will inform you right away and guide you through the booking process. We accept payments via bank transfer, wire transfer or credit/debit card (with a small surcharge for card payments).

Confirm Your Booking and Secure Your Gorilla Permits

To confirm your Gorilla Trekking Trip in Congo, we’ll require full payment for the gorilla permits upfront. The remaining balance is due 3 weeks before the safari begins. This payment structure ensures that your gorilla permits are secured while giving you time to prepare for the rest of your trip.

Once payment is received, we will confirm your booking, send you a receipt and start the process of securing your gorilla permits. We will keep your permits safely at our office until the day of your trek. On the day of the safari, your guide will hand over your gorilla permit card, which contains all the necessary details for your trek.

What’s Included in Our Summer Gorilla Trekking Packages in Congo

At Trek Africa Gorillas, we believe in providing a stress-free and seamless travel experience. Our summer gorilla trekking packages are fully inclusive, meaning all the essential components of your trip—gorilla permits, accommodation and transportation—are taken care of. Gorilla Permits: What’s Included and What’s Not

If you’re planning a summer trip to see the mountain gorillas in Congo’s Virunga National Park, securing your gorilla permit is a must. Contact us today to book your permit in advance, as availability can be limited due to high demand.

A gorilla permit is a ticket issued by the Virunga National Park Authority that grants you access to the park for gorilla trekking. It’s valid for a single day and is only usable on the date specified, so it’s essential to ensure you’re available on the day of your trek.

Included in the gorilla permit:

• One hour spent with a habituated gorilla family for an unforgettable experience
• Time for photographs and simple videos (ensure you follow the park’s dos and don’ts during your encounter)
• Ranger guide and tourism police to ensure safety and security throughout the trek
• Gun-carrying ranger to handle any potential wildlife threats (they carry firearms to safely deter dangerous animals)
• Park entry fees for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park (if applicable), valid for 24 hours

Accommodation: Lodging Options for Your Gorilla Trekking Trip

All our partner lodges are regularly assessed for quality, service and guest satisfaction through both in-person visits and online reviews, ensuring you have a comfortable and memorable stay.
