Essential Tips for Booking Your Exclusive Amahoro Gorilla Trek

1. Book Permits Well in Advance to Secure Your Spot

To secure the Amahoro gorilla group exclusively, it’s essential to book your permits in advance. The permits can sell out quickly, especially during the peak season. You can choose to pay 100%, 70% or 30% upfront to reserve all the permits. We recommend booking 3-4 months before your planned trek to avoid disappointment.

Reach out to us for assistance and we’ll handle the entire booking process with the Rwanda Development Board on your behalf, ensuring that all permits are blocked for your exclusive experience.

2. Comfortable Travel Options to Volcanoes National Park

For a smooth journey to Volcanoes National Park, we suggest traveling in a 4×4 Land Cruiser for comfort on the rugged roads. Alternatively, you can opt for a helicopter transfer from Kigali for a quicker and more scenic arrival.

3. Securing Your Exclusive Permits: The Booking Process

Once you confirm your travel dates, contact us to check permit availability. If permits are open, we will:

• Send you an invoice for payment.
• Purchase the permits immediately upon receipt of your payment.
• Provide a scanned copy of your permits for confirmation.

This process ensures that your booking is secured and you can look forward to an exclusive trek with the Amahoro gorilla group.

Best Time to Plan Your Exclusive Trek with the Amahoro Gorilla Group

The best time for an exclusive trek with the Amahoro gorilla group is during the dry months: January, February and from June to early September. During these months, the trails are easier to navigate and the vegetation is less dense, giving you better visibility for gorilla sightings.

In the wet months (April, May and November), the forest vegetation tends to grow thicker, which can make spotting gorillas a bit challenging. However, these months often mean shorter treks, as the gorillas don’t move far when food is abundant. Regardless of the season, you can enjoy a 99% chance of encountering the Amahoro group, thanks to the park’s well-organized tracking efforts.
