Popular Spring Holiday Gorilla Habituation Experience

If you want to spend more time with the mountain gorillas, our Gorilla Habituation Experience is the perfect choice for you. Instead of the usual one-hour trek, this experience allows you to spend up to four hours with a gorilla family in the wild. It’s a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these incredible animals, especially if you’re short on time and want to avoid multiple regular treks.

We offer flexible options for the Gorilla Habituation Experience, with tours starting and ending in either Entebbe or Kigali, catering to both budget and luxury travelers. Whether you want a more affordable option or a luxurious stay, we can customize your safari to match your interests, budget and available time.

Spring Holiday Gorilla Habituation Experience Safaris

For those looking to experience something unique this Spring, our Gorilla Habituation Experience Safaris are a perfect option. Just like our standard gorilla treks, these special safaris can start and end in Kigali. By flying into Kigali, you can cut down the drive time to just 4-5 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park instead of the longer 9-10 hours from Entebbe. We offer two great options starting from Kigali:

• 2-Day Gorilla Habituation Safari from Kigali

Best Time to Book Your Spring Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safari

Spring holidays in the northern hemisphere coincide with the rainy season in Uganda and Rwanda but don’t worry – it’s still a great time for gorilla trekking. The best time to book your Spring holiday gorilla trek is now!

We recommend booking your gorilla permits at least a year in advance, as they can sell out quickly, especially during peak seasons. If you’re thinking about visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park between March and May, don’t wait—reach out today and we’ll help you secure your permits and plan your trip.

Once you provide your preferred dates, we’ll check the availability of permits for your selected dates. If they’re available, we’ll send you the details and you can make a payment to confirm your booking. Payments can be made via bank transfer, wire transfer or debit/credit card (with a small surcharge for card payments).

To confirm your safari, we’ll require full payment for your gorilla permits. The balance for your tour package is due 3 weeks before the start of your trip. This payment plan ensures that your permits are secured and that your gorilla trek is all set for an amazing Spring holiday adventure!

Trek Africa Gorillas is one of the few registered tour operators with direct access to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) permit database, meaning we can check availability and hold permits for you in real-time. We’ll handle everything on your behalf, including picking up your gorilla permits directly from UWA’s office and keeping them safe for you until the start of your trek.

What’s Included in Your Spring Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safari

All of our Spring holiday gorilla trekking safaris are all-inclusive. When you book with us, your package includes:

• Gorilla Permits
• Accommodation
• Transport from Entebbe or Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

We take care of all the details so you can relax and enjoy your holiday without stress, knowing that everything is in the hands of experts.

Gorilla Permit Details

Your gorilla permit is issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and is required to trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park to see the endangered mountain gorillas. The permit allows you to spend one hour with a habituated gorilla family. During this time, you can take photos and videos (within the guidelines), learn from your guide and witness these incredible creatures in their natural habitat.

The gorilla permit also includes the services of a ranger guide and tourism police for your safety. Your guide will carry a firearm to ensure protection from any wildlife threats and park entry fees are also covered by the permit.

Please note, gorilla permits are only valid for the date they are booked and cannot be transferred or used for a different date, so it’s important to be available on your scheduled trekking day.

Gorilla Habituation Permit: What’s Included and What’s Not

If you’re looking to spend more time with the majestic mountain gorillas, the Gorilla Habituation Experience is the perfect choice for you. Unlike the standard gorilla trekking permit, which allows you to spend one hour with the gorillas, the Gorilla Habituation Experience gives you the chance to stay with the gorillas for up to four hours. This experience is available in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where two gorilla families in the southern part of the park are currently reserved for this unique experience. There’s even word that a third family is being habituated in the northern region of Bwindi, serving the areas of Buhoma and Ruhija.

When you book a Gorilla Habituation Experience, you not only enjoy more time with the gorillas but also contribute directly to conservation efforts. Part of the permit fee supports the protection and care of the rare mountain gorillas, as well as the staff at Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Additionally, your visit helps support the local communities, with a portion of the fees being used for vital projects such as building schools, hospitals and creating local jobs.

What’s Not Included in the Gorilla Permit

While the gorilla habituation permit covers the cost of the gorilla trek, it does not include your accommodation or transport to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. At Trek Africa Gorillas, we’ll take care of these details for you, ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience from start to finish.

Lodging Options for Your Spring Holiday Gorilla Trek

We partner with a selection of trusted lodges around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to provide a variety of accommodation options for every budget. Whether you’re looking for a budget, deluxe or luxury stay, we’ve got you covered. Bwindi is divided into four regions: Buhoma, Rushaga, Ruhija and Nkuringo, each offering a range of accommodations to suit your needs. We personally assess these lodges every year, ensuring they maintain high standards of service and comfort, so you can enjoy your stay without any worries.

Let us know your budget and we’ll recommend the best lodging options for you. Just give us a call or send us an email and we’ll handle the rest.

Transport to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Getting to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be an adventure in itself and we offer several transport options to ensure your journey is comfortable and enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for a luxury 4×4 Land Cruiser or a customized safari van for a more budget-friendly option, we’ve got you covered. All our vehicles are designed for Africa’s rough terrain, equipped with air conditioning and drinking water and driven by experienced, professional guides. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities.

Self-Drive and Air Travel Options

If you prefer to travel independently, we offer 4×4 Safari Land Cruisers for self-drive rentals in Uganda. For those flying in, you have the option of landing in Kigali (Rwanda) or Entebbe (Uganda). Many of our guests choose to fly into Kigali to avoid the longer drive from Entebbe to Bwindi. However, if you’re flying into Entebbe, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive that includes a stop at the equator, views of Uganda’s famous long-horned cows and the stunning Kigezi hills.

No matter which airport you choose, we’ll handle all your airport transfers and transport to and from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, ensuring your trip is hassle-free.
