Summer Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safaris

Summer Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safaris: Experience Africa’s Mountain Gorillas

Trek Africa Gorillas is your expert partner in organizing unforgettable summer holiday gorilla trekking safaris to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga National Park in Uganda and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. These safaris offer an incredible opportunity to visit the rare mountain gorillas and, depending on your itinerary, also include visits to other stunning national parks for wildlife viewing, boat cruises and immersive cultural experiences.

Why Choose Summer for Your Gorilla Trekking Safari?

During the summer months, from June to September, many countries in the northern hemisphere experience a school break and warm weather, making it the perfect time for a holiday. While many travelers head to the beach, why not make this summer one to remember by embarking on a gorilla trekking safari in Africa? Whether you’re based in the UK, USA, Europe or Asia, Trek Africa Gorillas offers both affordable and high-quality safari packages to experience the extraordinary mountain gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park.

Best Time to Book Your Summer Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safari

Summer in the northern hemisphere aligns perfectly with the dry seasons in Uganda and Rwanda, making it the ideal time for gorilla trekking. However, this is also the high season, meaning that permits and accommodations can sell out quickly. To ensure you don’t miss out, we recommend booking your trip as early as possible—ideally, a year in advance.

Once you’ve decided on your travel dates (June to September), reach out to us and we’ll check the availability of gorilla permits for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park. We’ll keep you updated on the status and let you know as soon as your permits are secured.

How to Secure Your Gorilla Permits for Summer Trekking

To confirm your booking, we’ll need to secure your gorilla permits. We recommend paying for the permits as soon as possible to ensure their availability. Once paid, we will handle the rest—organizing the permits and coordinating with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). We’re one of the few trusted tour operators with direct access to the UWA permit database, which allows us to check availability in real-time and secure your permits on your behalf.

After payment, we will send someone to UWA’s office to complete the transaction and obtain the booking ID and receipt, which we will share with you for your records. We will keep your permits safely at our office until the day of your trek, ensuring everything is in order for a smooth safari experience.

What’s Included in Our Summer Holiday Gorilla Trekking Safaris to Africa

At Trek Africa Gorillas, we offer all-inclusive packages for your summer holiday gorilla trekking experience. From gorilla permits and accommodation to transport to and from Entebbe or Kigali, we handle every detail so you can relax and enjoy the adventure. Our goal is to ensure that your holiday is stress-free by letting the experts take care of everything. Let’s break down what’s included in our summer holiday gorilla trekking safaris.

Gorilla Permits: What’s Included and Excluded

A key component of any gorilla trekking safari is the gorilla permit. These permits, issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), give you access to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park, where you’ll have the chance to view endangered mountain gorillas. The permit includes a one-hour trek with a habituated gorilla family, during which you can take photos and videos. You’ll also have a knowledgeable guide and the support of tourism police to ensure safety in the forest. The permit also covers park entry fees and is valid for 24 hours.

Please note that gorilla permits are date-specific and non-transferable, so it’s essential to secure yours in advance. If you’re planning a summer trip to see the gorillas, don’t wait—contact us now to book your permit before they sell out.

Gorilla Habituation Permits: Spend More Time with the Gorillas

For a truly immersive experience, consider the Gorilla Habituation Experience permit. Instead of the standard one-hour trek, this permit allows you to spend up to four hours with mountain gorillas still undergoing habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Currently, UWA offers this experience for two gorilla families in the southern part of Bwindi, with reports suggesting that a third family is being habituated in the northern region.

As part of this experience, you’ll receive a certificate confirming your participation and your permit fee helps support mountain gorilla conservation efforts. Your fee also contributes to community development projects such as schools, hospitals and job creation for local residents.

Please note, while the gorilla permit covers the trek and park entry fees, it does not include accommodation or transport. But don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Trek Africa Gorillas will arrange all your accommodation and transport needs to ensure a seamless journey.

If you fly into Entebbe, you’ll pass through the equator, see the famous Ankole long-horned cows and take in the rolling hills of Kigezi.
