Game Drives in Ishasha

Exploring Ishasha’s game-rich environment is a highlight of any visit. Game drives can be scheduled at various times—morning, afternoon, evening, or even night drives for a complete experience. Park entrance fees are USD 40 per person for non-residents, and additional fees apply for different types of game drives. Night drives cost USD 40 for foreign visitors and UGX 40,000 for East African citizens, while day drives are USD 30 for foreigners and UGX 30,000 for East Africans. Fees can be paid at the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices.

Best Times to Visit

For the best wildlife viewing opportunities, plan your visit during the dry season, which runs from June to September and December to February. While the park is open year-round, the dry months provide superior chances of spotting wildlife, including the iconic tree-climbing lions.

Getting to Ishasha

By Air

The quickest way to reach the Ishasha sector is via daily flights to Kihihi Airstrip, taking approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi. The short drive from the airstrip to the park offers plenty of sights along the way.

By Road

For those who prefer a scenic drive, the road trip from Entebbe or Kampala to Ishasha takes about 6-7 hours. Although the journey is longer, you’ll enjoy the beautiful landscapes and can stop along the way. We use comfortable 4×4 vehicles, ensuring a smooth ride and great views with pop-up roofs for photography. This area of the park is also easily accessible for travelers coming from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, making it easy to combine gorilla trekking with game drives.
