BullBush River Camp is an eco-friendly lodge situated along the Ishasha River within the park. Our mission is to provide an intimate and natural experience that caters to all nature lovers. Each of our spacious en-suite cottages offers a relaxing and comfortable retreat. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in our operations; we use solar water heaters for hot showers, and all water is harvested rainwater or sourced from a deep well. Additionally, we support local communities by sourcing materials for our cottages locally, promoting livelihoods while minimizing our impact on the national park.
The Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, and staying at BullBush River Camp puts you right in the heart of the action. Our six en-suite cottages—two of which are family-friendly—offer fantastic views of the river and the park. Each cottage comes equipped with modern amenities, including flushing toilets, hot showers with scenic views, mosquito nets, towels, and complimentary water.
At BullBush River Camp, we take pride in our restaurant, which features a diverse à la carte menu prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy your meals on your private porch with stunning views of the park, or along the banks of the river. We also offer picnic meals that you can take along on your wildlife adventures.
Exploring Ishasha’s game-rich environment is a highlight of any visit. Game drives can be scheduled at various times—morning, afternoon, evening, or even night drives for a complete experience. Park entrance fees are USD 40 per person for non-residents, and additional fees apply for different types of game drives. Night drives cost USD 40 for foreign visitors and UGX 40,000 for East African citizens, while day drives are USD 30 for foreigners and UGX 30,000 for East Africans. Fees can be paid at the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices.
For the best wildlife viewing opportunities, plan your visit during the dry season, which runs from June to September and December to February. While the park is open year-round, the dry months provide superior chances of spotting wildlife, including the iconic tree-climbing lions.
The quickest way to reach the Ishasha sector is via daily flights to Kihihi Airstrip, taking approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi. The short drive from the airstrip to the park offers plenty of sights along the way.
For those who prefer a scenic drive, the road trip from Entebbe or Kampala to Ishasha takes about 6-7 hours. Although the journey is longer, you’ll enjoy the beautiful landscapes and can stop along the way. We use comfortable 4×4 vehicles, ensuring a smooth ride and great views with pop-up roofs for photography. This area of the park is also easily accessible for travelers coming from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, making it easy to combine gorilla trekking with game drives.
