Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often referred to as a miniature version of the renowned Serengeti National Park, is renowned for its dense population of large animals such as black rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes. Visitors often describe it as the “eighth wonder of the world” due to its unique geological formation—an intact volcanic caldera that is not submerged underwater. The Ngorongoro Crater spans 10 miles in width, with walls soaring approximately 2,000 feet into the East African skies, creating a self-contained ecosystem that encapsulates all the biodiversity found in the Serengeti National Park within a compact area.

The crater rim also attracts thousands of wildebeest during dry spells, adding to the spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities. Additionally, the area teems with blue wildebeest, gazelles, zebras, giraffes, impala, hartebeest, kudu, as well as leopards and buffaloes. Various other species like giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, antelopes, and diverse types of monkeys can also be observed.
