The best time for gorilla trekking in Buhoma is during Uganda’s dry seasons, which run from June to October and December to March. During these months, rainfall is minimal, making treks through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest easier. The vegetation is less dense, providing excellent visibility for spotting mountain gorillas, resulting in fantastic photographic opportunities.
In contrast, the wet seasons—April, May, and November—see increased rainfall, which leads to taller vegetation that can hinder sightings. However, the treks during this time tend to be shorter, as the mountain gorillas stay closer to food sources that are plentiful in the forest.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience is available year-round, offering a remarkable 99% chance of encountering mountain gorillas.
