2. Behavioral Considerations: Children, especially those under 15, may have trouble staying quiet and calm during the trek. Loud noises or sudden movements can trigger aggressive behavior in gorillas. For this reason, children must be well-prepared and mature enough to understand and follow instructions during the trek.

• Gorilla Permits: Children aged 15 or older pay the same price as adults for their permits. Since permits are limited (only eight people can trek with each gorilla family per day), it’s essential to book your permit well in advance. • Parental Waiver: A legally binding waiver must be signed by the parent or guardian, acknowledging the risks and agreeing to the trek. This ensures that the tour operator or Uganda Wildlife Authority won’t be held responsible for any unforeseen incidents.
