The ideal time to participate in a gorilla habituation experience in Uganda is during the dry seasons, which run from June to October and December to March. During these months, the weather is generally mild, making treks through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest more manageable. The vegetation is also less dense, allowing for better visibility of the mountain gorillas, which makes for fantastic photography opportunities.
In contrast, the wet months of April, May, and November can lead to taller vegetation, making gorilla sightings less clear. However, gorilla treks during these months tend to be shorter since the gorillas don’t travel far for food, as it’s more readily available.
Regardless of the season, gorilla habituation experiences can be conducted year-round, with a 99% success rate of spotting mountain gorillas.
