February 6, 20254-Day Hiking Adventure to the Rwenzori Mountains
Embark on a 4-Day Hiking Adventure to the Rwenzori Mountains, where you’ll climb to the stunning Mutinda Lookout (3,975m) and witness awe-inspiring waterfalls. Known as Africa’s highest mountain range, the Rwenzoris stretch across 120 km in length and 65 km in width, with altitudes ranging from 1,600m to 5,109m above sea level. The Rwenzori Mountains, also called “Mountains of the Moon,” are not only the highest in Uganda but the third highest in all of Africa. This magical, snow-capped range is also the source of the Nile River, offering a rare and unforgettable hiking experience.
Located in western Uganda along the Uganda-Congo border, Rwenzori Mountains National Park protects the highest peaks of the range. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including 70 mammal species and 217 bird species, many of which are endemic to the Albertine Rift. In addition to hiking, you’ll have the chance to experience the culture of the local Bakonzo people through village walks, bird watching, and nature walks.

Why Hike the Rwenzoris with Us?
Our expert guides, many of whom come from the Rwenzori region, bring years of experience to the trek. They are trained in first aid, high-altitude summits, flora and fauna, and more. Their deep knowledge of the Rwenzori Mountains ensures that your hike is both safe and enriching.
During the trek, porters will carry your luggage (maximum 23 kg per bag), and we recommend you pack a large backpack for your gear and a smaller day pack for personal items. Since the Rwenzoris are often wet, it’s important to bring a waterproof backpack cover to protect your gear.
We provide hearty meals throughout the hike, prepared by our trained guides to keep you energized. If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, please inform us ahead of time so we can accommodate your needs. Feel free to bring along some favorite snacks for extra motivation during the trek.
Accommodation is in basic huts with bunk beds, providing a cozy atmosphere at the end of each long day. Due to conservation efforts, we use eco-friendly huts to minimize our impact on the environment. Some huts have wood stoves for warmth, and others (such as Hunwick’s and Kiharo) are equipped with solar power for charging devices.
Insurance Requirement:
Insurance is mandatory for all trekkers, including coverage for Medivac and evacuation at altitudes above 4,000 meters. Please ensure your insurance is arranged before arrival.
